A little update on JD and Katie

JD and I at Venice watching a little kid skate like a pro!

The School JD is working at

JD and I are doing great. We are so excited for Christmas...well let's be serious I am really excited for Christmas! This is my favorite time of year. I love to give presents, even though this year it is going to be hard to do that I would love it if I could do something for everyone. I remember on my mission how much I loved this time of year with the snow and the service it definitely reminded me of why we celebrate at this time of year...it is not just the birth of our Savior but I also like to think of his life and the gift that He gave to us. Repentance is possible because of Him and because the love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us. I know that JD and I have been blessed this year. While we have faced our fair share of trials we have grown so much. We have learned to communicate more and to be more compassionate to each other. We are still learning to live within our means...and I believe strongly that all of these things are the ingredients for a healthy marriage and life. I am so grateful for JD and all he provides in my life. He is a good man with a good heart.

JD has been working for Morrow Meadows for a little under a year and is currently working at a school in East LA. It is going a long smoothly and he is learning a lot under his journey men. I am still at Wells Fargo and even with all that has happened within this last year with my job I really couldn't be happier there...not that I want to stay there for too much longer but change is good and the changes that have happened there have really been a blessing...even when I wasn't ready for them to happen nor wanted them to happen it was still the best thing to make work worthwhile and a learning atmosphere.

Our Animals and Their Adventures

The Little Girl and me (I look hideous)

This is Shiva

Henry "Scadoosh"

Let's start with Henry. He is my very first cat. JD bought him for me right after Christmas last year and I love him very much. Perhaps one might say that it was past his time to be fixed but we just got it done. When we brought him he was completely "stoned" the poor little guy couldn't walk and his eyes were dilated almost all the way. While I felt bad for Henry the most peculiar part was the way that Shiva acted...she sat in the corner of the room and would not approach Henry or as JD likes to call him Scadoosh. Instead she sat in the corner of the room and growled and would not drop her gaze from him. Even in our relentless attempts to get her to play with her fish she would not take her eyes off of Henry. Eventually we put her in the other room because she was getting to anxious to allow her to stay out with my precious baby Henry. I believe he is the most beautiful cat ever!

Shiva still isn't sure if she likes us too much. She is starting to come a little bit closer to us...especially when we have food. She does all she can to steal our food...even if we are willing to give it to her she would much rather steal it from us then take it out of our hands. Just this last week I made (probably my best dish) Creamy Chicken Parmesean and she decided she loves noodles with sauce on them. I would swear we have dogs with the way they beg for our food. But just like with boys the same can be said for our beautiful cat Shiva...the way to her heart is through her stomach!

Now for The Little Girl, she truly is the ruler of our household. She is by far the coolest animal we have ever owned with her crazy personality and huge presence in the room. One of my most favorite things that she does is when she wants to be invisible she flattens herself to the ground and lays really still for about 20 seconds...all the while she is planning her attack on one of the cats or my feet. Just this last week I was going to pick up JD from school and she wouldn't let me get out the door without pursuing it so I gave up and decided to take her along. She was nervous at first because I had to get gas. I put her in my purse and took her inside to pay. She of course was peeking out the top and then was very excited as I put her on the trunk of the car so I could pump the gas. She was all over the car and I think she even thinks that she is the ruler of the car as she perched herself on my shoulder so she could see all that was going on as I drove down the freeway...I know I took the picture while I was driving but rest assure I have done this plenty of times and never had to take my eyes off the road.

The FAIR and other adventures

It has been a very long time since our blog has had a chance to tell our story. Since we last were able to write: Katie has been working the fair usually every Saturday for 13 hours and then the last two weeks an additional 3 to 6 more hours after her work day at the bank. Needless to say she has been very grumpy come Sunday.

JD on the other hand as been dealing with work and riding the bus every so often. He is in constant battle with the animals, the little girl is always stealing some type of beverage and trying to somehow make it into her secret lair underneath the dishwasher. Then there is our beautiful cats, and Henry is a crazy devil who has started to do his bathroom duty in places where JD likes to sleep. He is very close to becoming an outside cat.

The Little Girl On The Attack

A little over 2 weeks ago now, Joe, one of our ferrets died and went to Ferret Heaven. It was a pretty sad day. JD found him while I was out with some girl friends and called to tell me all about it. Of course I was more concerned about what we were going to do with the body then anything else. So I asked him what he was going to do with Joe. He told me we did not have a shovel and so we was going to be placed in the dumpster. I think that almost upset me more than him actually dying.

Now the Little Girl, thinks she owns the place. Everytime we turn around she is out running all over the apartment. When we got home from the family reunion she was right at the door with the cats to greet us. Then she bolted, to only come out and attack either JD or my toes!! Always that girl and the toes. (One time I was loving her and she grabbed my ear with her little paws and bit down hard.)

The following weekend while JD was at work I decided to help out and clean up the place so his brother could come over and hang out that night with JD. As I was loading the dishwasher the little girl came over very curiously and decided to investigate. She climbed up and in between each and everything where she could fit. It was so great to see her so nosy. She was in the cups and even licked the plates where the water from the sink was still dripping off. After the dishes were all loaded she was soaking wet. But somehow I convinced her to climb out so that I could start the dishes and get them sanitary for our friends, as well as, us to be able to use.

Grandma June's Family Reunion

JD's Grandma June has a family reunion every year. This year we were able to go to New Mexico for the extravaganza and party with the fam. It was great to get to know the rest of JD's family. His Grandma June is so sweet and a serious crack up! She told us stories of Grandma Patsy's youth and was very colorful in her description of the stories. It was lovely to see such a sweet family who loves eachother and knows how to have a good time. We had a fun picnic where relatives from all over the area came and potlucked with all of us. Aunt Jerrie was also one of my favorites. She had a spunk where you knew not to mess with her but you couldn't help but to love her to absolute pieces. I also think I finally won over Shaylee's affection. While Uncle Jd is still her main love she admitted that she wanted me to marry him if only so he could get all the help he needed (I am sure she meant that in the most loving of ways that an 8 year old can give)!

Katie's Birthday

For Katie's birthday this year she went to her cousins house and hung out with the kids. We had a picnic and swam around. Hailey showed us how she can swim without floaties and Holly (that's the dog) showed us how she can jump into the pool and drown Tyler. It was over all a great day.

The 4th of July

For the 4th we went to my Uncle Darren's house for the usual BBQ, swimming and illegal fireworks put on my by my uncles and his neighbors. It was a perfect day for fun in the sun as the boys got hot and sweaty playing basketball all the ladies swooned over Darren and Val's new little baby Jason James! He is the cutest thing ever. But I do have to say that one of the cutest things was when JD would constantly steal the baby out of my arms. I could never hold Jason for more than 2 mins before JD would decide that it was his turn to hold the baby or feed him! And just last week JD decided that he was determined to be Jason's favorite Uncle! We shall see, I think he can do it but he seems to think that he has a run for his money!

Isn't Love Grand
JD just started at a new job site this week. He is now working in Pasadena at a Nordstrom doing the electrical work there. While he is excited to be working it is definitely getting way hotter. Just last Saturday JD took me to Victoria Gardens to buy me my birthday present. While there he held all my stuff I played with the little toddlers in the fountain! And then the fountain attacked me and I looked like I had wet my pants. I was pretty embarassed. But JD said I looked cute. Isn't love grand?

This is my first time starting a blog. So I am not too sure what to put, so how about I tell you a little about us. JD and I have been dating for almost a year and a half and we are completely crazy about each other and life. JD is an electrician and for now I am a bank teller...but I will one day bust out of that job and finish school to be elementary school teacher.

We have 2 Cats named Henry and Shiva. We also have 2 Ferrets named Joe and the Little Girl. We love animals and would love to have our own Zoo.
